When a Sign Appears
A sign becomes more interesting when it has context.
Suppose you have just asked your spirit companion about communication and immediately notice a feather.
The feather may be meaningful.
But ask:
- Why this feather?
- What did it make me think of?
- Was the symbol unusual in this context?
- Does it correspond with the spirit's known symbolism?
- Does the same theme recur elsewhere?
Do not turn ordinary life into an endless hunt for omens.
A witch does not need to interpret every bird, number, song, cloud, or coincidence.
Discernment means knowing when something deserves your attention—and when it is simply a bird.
The Rule of the Three Witnesses
When something feels particularly important, seek confirmation rather than immediately declaring certainty.
Look for three different kinds of witness:
The Symbolic Witness
A card, rune, dream, omen, or other divinatory symbol.
The Intuitive Witness
Your immediate inner response or perception.
The Mundane Witness
Something independently observable or verifiable in ordinary life.
For example:
A reading suggests an important message.
Your intuition independently points toward communication.
Then a real-world event provides information that could not have been known from the reading itself.
That is considerably more interesting than a single ambiguous symbol.
It does not create absolute proof.
It creates a stronger basis for discernment.
Keep recording.
Keep testing.
Keep learning.
The purpose of divination is not to surrender your judgment to the oracle.
It is to sharpen your ability to listen.
The oracle opens the door.
You decide whether to walk through it.
