The pendulum is a small instrument for a very old principle:
movement becomes answer.
Before questioning the unknown, learn the language of your own pendulum.
Hold it loosely.
Let it hang.
Say:
"Show me yes."
Observe.
Then:
"Show me no."
Observe.
You may also establish:
"Show me uncertain."
and:
"Show me that you will not answer."
Establish these different responses rather than treating every non-answer as "no."
Test the pendulum with things you already know.
Then begin.
Keep questions simple.
Do not ask:
"Tell me everything about this situation."
Ask:
"Is this question appropriate to explore further?"
or:
"Is there information here that I should investigate?"
A pendulum can be influenced by unconscious physical movement, particularly when you strongly desire a particular result.
For that reason, approach it with neutrality.
If you desperately want the answer to be yes, acknowledge that before you begin.
Sometimes the wisest response is to put the pendulum down.
