Water remembers movement.
Hydromancy is divination through water, and its practice may take many forms. For a simple form of water scrying, fill a dark or neutral bowl with clean water and place it somewhere stable.
Let the surface become still.
Hold your question.
Look into the water.
Watch the reflections.
Watch the darkness beneath the surface.
You may observe ripples, shapes, colors, distortions, reflections, or sudden impressions.
Variation
Another form is to cast a small pebble into the water and observe the rings that spread outward.
If you use this method, decide beforehand that the ripples themselves form part of the divination rather than repeatedly disturbing the water until a desired pattern appears.
Ask:
"What should I understand?"
and watch.
The water need not produce a recognizable picture.
A movement, sensation, association, or symbolic impression may be enough.
Record it.
