Ask your question.
Observe without interfering.
Watch:
- The height of the flame.
- Its direction.
- Its movement.
- Its brightness.
- Its flickering.
- The smoke.
- The behavior of the wick.
You may notice a sudden change while speaking a particular word, or a repeated movement when a particular subject is mentioned.
Record what happens.
But remember that fire responds to physical conditions: air currents, wick length, wax, temperature, and other ordinary causes.
Not every flicker is a message.
The art lies partly in learning the difference between what the candle naturally does and what is genuinely unusual within the context of your reading.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Fire is an oracle, but it is also fire.
Treat it accordingly.
